notes… a quote from (I believe) one of the greatest scientist of the 20th Century… George Washington Carver – and why [our educational system and parenting system and social systems] currently suck. We’ve not remembered – below is a cut from Wik… page on him – but IT was in our school books as a reminder to the character of an education when I was in school – I think they’ve removed it (and other great thoughts) from books in today’s world(?) Maybe cuz he was a Christian? Don’t know? I don’t remember ever thinking it as a means to preach [a religion] nor anything implicating one religion/person over another; just an insight to think about given to us by a great man – and so when finding his quote on the internet, I didn’t want to cut his “faith” out of their introduction:
Carver viewed faith in Jesus as a means of destroying both barriers of racial disharmony and social stratification.[60] He was as concerned with his students’ character development as he was with their intellectual development. He compiled a list of eight cardinal virtues for his students to strive toward:
Be clean both inside and out.
Neither look up to the rich nor down on the poor.
Lose, if need be, without squealing.
Win without bragging.
Always be considerate of women, children, and older people.
Be too brave to lie.
Be too generous to cheat.
Take your share of the world and let others take theirs.
remarkably wise and kind in his teaching… kinda nasty of our present world -currently saying, [it] is only attempting to come together for all with this politically and religiously correct stuff being hurled in hatred towards each other in front of young students now-a-day (really, it is the “correctness” that is causing much of the upheaval. that one group would not see the value of another’s beauty because of a [religious] difference is nothing more than stupidity, identity-greed, or meanness); and thus, edit out character from education (or else be sued). you do need character to be truly educated; especially SCIENCE. without, things go mad*… you also need it to nourish a planet’s population without harm.
*an Aunt would always correct… sweetheart, dogs go mad, people get angry, if I were to mix up the two in a sentence.
– to be continued…
